Detailed
preliminary examination
Whether a surgical treatment to correct your sight defect is possible
in your case will be determined during a detailed preliminary examination
at our Augenzentrum in Fribourg.
It lasts about 1.5 hours and is not free of
charge. The most advanced equipment is used to gain a full medical
picture that enables us to determine the exact nature of your visual defect,
the characteristics of your eyes, and if, and under what conditions, your
eye affliction is suitable to be treated by surgery. The data obtained
from this detailed examination will also be used for a later treatment
in our eye center. and his team will discuss the most appropriate treatment
with you, as soon as the results of the examination have been evaluated.
They will also take the time necessary to answer all your questions and
queries, and you will be informed in detail on the exact course of treatment.
Please note that if you use contact lenses you will be asked not to wear
them for a certain period of time before the detailed preliminary examination
(1-2 weeks), in order not to falsify any measurements. During the examination,
you will be given special eye drops that widen your pupils. You should
therefore not drive your car for a few hours after the examination.
Free short test
The short test is free of charge and takes about 30 minutes. If you have
contact lenses, it is not necessary to renounce wearing them before this
test. In our Augenzentrum in Fribourg
we carry out a rapid, uncomplicated and efficient examination to see whether
it would be worth for you to undergo a detailed examination (this later
examination is not free of charge). We test your visual defect using state
of the art equipment and we measure the thickness and shape of your cornea.
These values are essential for an initial assessment of the present state
of your eye sight. However, a more detailed examination is always required
before performing an operation.
